1.Coriander Seed Water for Thyroid: Preparation & Benefits

Coriander seeds are more than just a kitchen spice.

When soaked or infused in water, they create a mild, aromatic drink that has become popular as part of morning wellness routines. Coriander seeds contain plant compounds, essential oils and several micronutrients that make them an interesting addition to the diet.

But there is an important detail: coriander seed water is an infusion, not the same thing as eating coriander seeds. The amount of nutrients and compounds that actually move into the water depends on how the drink is prepared.

Here is a simple way to prepare it.

Overnight Method

You need:

  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds,

  • 250–300 ml drinking water.

Method:

  1. Take approximately 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds.

  2. Lightly crush the seeds. This helps expose more surface area to the water.

  3. Add the seeds to 250–300 ml of drinking water.

  4. Cover and leave overnight.

  5. Strain the water the next morning.

  6. Drink it fresh.

You don't need to make the infusion extremely concentrated. More seeds do not automatically mean more nutritional benefit.

Warm Coriander Water Method

If you don't want to soak the seeds overnight:

  1. Lightly crush 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds.

  2. Add them to approximately 250–300 ml of water.

  3. Bring the water to a gentle simmer.

  4. Turn off the heat and allow it to steep for around 5–10 minutes.

  5. Strain and drink.

The warm method is particularly convenient when you want to prepare the drink immediately.

Why Crush the Seeds?

Whole coriander seeds have a relatively hard outer structure.

Lightly crushing them increases the surface area exposed to water, allowing some water-soluble compounds and aromatic components to move into the infusion more readily.

There is no need to grind them into a fine powder.

A light crush is enough.

2.Methi(Fenugreek) Water for PCOS: Preparation & Benefits

Fenugreek seeds(Methi) contain dietary fiber, protein, minerals and naturally occurring plant compounds that make them an interesting addition to a balanced diet.

But there is an important detail: methi water is an infusion, not the same thing as eating methi seeds. The amount of nutrients and compounds that actually move into the water depends on how the drink is prepared.

Here is a simple way to prepare it.

Overnight Method

You need:

  • 1 teaspoon methi (fenugreek) seeds,

  • 250–300 ml drinking water.

Method:

  1. Take approximately 1 teaspoon of methi seeds.

  2. Add the seeds to 250–300 ml of drinking water.

  3. Cover and leave them to soak overnight.

  4. Strain the water the next morning.

  5. Drink the infused water fresh.

You don't need to make the infusion extremely concentrated. More seeds do not automatically mean more nutritional benefit.

Warm Methi Water Method

If you don't want to soak the seeds overnight:

  1. Take 1 teaspoon of methi seeds.

Fenugreek is particularly interesting in the context of PCOS because its seeds contain fiber and several naturally occurring plant compounds.

3.Clove Water for Diabetes: Preparation & How to Use It

Clove water is easy to prepare at home. You don't need a large quantity of cloves or a highly concentrated infusion.

Overnight Method

You need:

  • 2–3 whole cloves,

  • 250–300 ml drinking water.

Method:

  1. Add 2–3 whole cloves to 250–300 ml of water.

  2. Cover and leave overnight.

  3. Strain the water the next morning.

  4. Drink it fresh.

This is the simplest method if you want to prepare it the night before.

Warm Clove Water Method

If you don't want to soak the cloves overnight:

  1. Add 2–3 whole cloves to approximately 250–300 ml of water.

  2. Bring the water to a gentle simmer.

  3. Turn off the heat and allow it to steep for around 5–10 minutes.

  4. Strain and allow it to cool slightly.

  5. Drink it warm or at room temperature.

The warm method is particularly convenient when you want to prepare the drink immediately.

For general dietary use, one small glass is enough. Keep the drink unsweetened—there is no need to add sugar, honey or syrup.

Cloves have been studied for their antioxidant and metabolic properties, but clove water itself has not been established as a treatment for diabetes or a replacement for prescribed medication.

4.Cinnamon Water for High Blood Pressure: Preparation & Usage

Cinnamon water is a simple spice infusion made by steeping cinnamon in water. Cinnamon contains naturally occurring compounds such as cinnamaldehyde and polyphenols, which have attracted research interest for their potential effects on metabolic and cardiovascular health.

But there is an important detail: cinnamon water is an infusion, not the same thing as consuming cinnamon powder or taking a measured cinnamon supplement. The amount of compounds released into the water depends on the type and quantity of cinnamon and how it is prepared.

Here is a simple way to prepare it.

Warm Infusion Method

You need:

  • 1 small cinnamon stick,

  • 250–300 ml drinking water.

Method:

  1. Add 1 small cinnamon stick to 250–300 ml of water.

  2. Bring the water to a gentle simmer.

  3. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for around 5 minutes.

  4. Turn off the heat and allow it to steep for another 5–10 minutes.

  5. Remove the cinnamon stick.

  6. Drink it warm or allow it to cool slightly.

This method is particularly useful because cinnamon bark is relatively firm, so gentle heating helps create a more consistent infusion than simply soaking the stick in cold water.

Overnight Method

If you prefer preparing it the night before:

  1. Add 1 small cinnamon stick to approximately 250–300 ml of drinking water.

  2. Cover and leave overnight.

  3. Remove the cinnamon stick the next morning.

  4. Drink the infused water fresh.

The overnight method is convenient, but the strength of the infusion can vary depending on the cinnamon stick and soaking time.

Research on cinnamon supplementation and blood pressure has produced mixed results. Some systematic reviews have reported modest reductions in blood pressure, while other controlled research has found less consistent effects. Importantly, these studies generally used measured cinnamon supplements rather than homemade cinnamon water.

So, think of cinnamon water as a simple, unsweetened spice infusion that can fit into an overall healthy diet—not as a replacement for prescribed blood-pressure treatment.

Simple rule: use a small amount, keep it unsweetened, and don't make the infusion unnecessarily strong or use it as a substitute for proper blood-pressure management.

One more practical point: if you use cinnamon regularly, the type matters. Cassia cinnamon generally contains much more coumarin than Ceylon cinnamon, and prolonged high intake of coumarin can be a concern, particularly for people with liver problems.

5.Ajwain & Jeera Water for Bloating/Digestion: Preparation & Usage

One small glass is enough for a simple digestive infusion. It can be taken after a heavy meal or when you feel occasional digestive heaviness or bloating.

The combination makes sense from a traditional-food perspective, and ajwain-containing preparations have been investigated for digestive symptoms. However, evidence specifically for homemade ajwain-and-jeera water remains limited.

Also, don't assume that stronger means better. A concentrated infusion may be unpleasant or irritating for some people, particularly those who are sensitive to spicy foods or have reflux.

Simple rule: ½ teaspoon ajwain + ½ teaspoon jeera → 250–300 ml water → simmer → strain → drink warm.

If bloating is frequent, severe or persistent, look beyond the drink. Food intolerances, constipation, eating habits and underlying digestive conditions can all contribute to bloating.

Overnight Method

You need:

  • ½ teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds),

  • ½ teaspoon jeera (cumin seeds),

  • 250–300 ml drinking water.

Method:

  1. Add ½ teaspoon ajwain and ½ teaspoon jeera to 250–300 ml of drinking water.

  2. Cover and leave overnight.

  3. In the morning, bring the soaked water to a gentle simmer.

  4. Allow it to simmer for around 3–5 minutes.

  5. Strain the seeds.

  6. Let it cool slightly and drink warm.

This combination is also commonly prepared in wellness communities as a simple drink for heaviness, gas and occasional bloating.

Quick Warm Method

If you don't want to soak the seeds overnight:

  1. Add ½ teaspoon ajwain and ½ teaspoon jeera to 250–300 ml of water.

  2. Bring the water to a gentle simmer.

  3. Continue simmering for around 5 minutes.

  4. Turn off the heat and allow it to steep for another 5 minutes.

  5. Strain and drink warm.

Ajwain contains aromatic compounds such as thymol, while jeera (cumin) contains naturally occurring volatile compounds that contribute to its characteristic aroma and flavor. Both spices have a long history of culinary and traditional digestive use.

6.Kalonji Water for Inflammation & Joint Pain: Preparation & Usage

Kalonji, also known as black seed or Nigella sativa, is a small spice with a long history of traditional use.

Its seeds contain naturally occurring compounds, including thymoquinone, along with other plant compounds that have attracted research interest for their antioxidant and inflammatory effects.

Kalonji is commonly used as a spice, taken as whole seeds, or prepared as an infused drink. Here is a simple way to prepare kalonji water.

Warm Infusion Method

You need:

  • ½–1 teaspoon kalonji seeds,

  • 250–300 ml drinking water.

Method:

  1. Lightly crush the kalonji seeds.

  2. Add them to 250–300 ml of water.

  3. Bring the water to a gentle simmer.

  4. Simmer for around 5 minutes.

  5. Turn off the heat and allow it to steep for another 5–10 minutes.

  6. Strain the seeds.

  7. Drink the infusion warm or at room temperature.

Lightly crushing the seeds helps expose more of their surface to the water and creates a more aromatic infusion.

Overnight Method

If you prefer a no-cook preparation:

  1. Add ½–1 teaspoon of kalonji seeds to 250–300 ml of drinking water.

  2. Cover and leave overnight.

  3. Strain the water the next morning.

  4. Drink it fresh.

The overnight method is convenient, although the strength of the infusion can vary depending on the seeds and soaking time.

How to Use Kalonji Water?

One small glass is enough for a simple spice infusion. Keep it unsweetened and avoid making it unnecessarily concentrated.

Kalonji has been studied for its potential effects on inflammatory and oxidative-stress markers. A 2023 meta-analysis of 20 randomized trials involving 1,086 adults found improvements in several inflammatory and antioxidant biomarkers with Nigella sativa supplementation. However, the studies used defined Nigella sativa preparations and doses—not homemade kalonji water.

There is also some research specifically involving joint pain. A systematic review of six randomized trials in knee osteoarthritis found potentially beneficial effects from Nigella sativa, particularly with topical and oral oil preparations, but the researchers concluded that the evidence was not strong enough to make clinical recommendations.

So the distinction matters:

Kalonji has promising research. Kalonji water is not a proven treatment for inflammation or joint pain.

Think of it as a simple traditional spice infusion that can fit into an overall healthy diet.

Simple rule: ½–1 teaspoon kalonji → 250–300 ml water → gently simmer → strain → drink.

If joint pain is persistent, worsening, swollen or limiting movement, don't rely on a spice drink to identify or manage the underlying cause.
